A FRANKSTON woman living with MS is taking part in an initiative to find technology solutions to people living with disease and disabilities. TOM is a technology company which aims to creative, affordable solutions to assist people who live with disability. The company held its Makeathon event in Melbourne this week – linking professionals and students in the fields of engineering, industrial design, allied health and trades with people who need solutions to the challenges they face. A SMALL earthquake struck close to the coast of Frankston last week. The earthquake struck at 5.41am on 18 September. The tremor had a magnitude of 2.4. The epicentre of the earthquake was in Port Phillip Bay, a short distance out from Seaford Beach. In a statement online, the Victorian SES confirmed that no damage reports had been made. “[There have been] no calls for assistance to VICSES. There is no Tsunami threat,” the statement read. DUNKLEY MP Peta Murphy will represent Australia at the United Nations General Assembly. The UN General Assembly begins in New York this month, and continues until December. While overseas, Murphy says she will address local matters remotely. “I will continue with my local work as the member for Dunkley and my parliamentary committee work while at the United Nations,” she said. “We’ve become very familiar with online meetings and the Dunkley office will remain fully operational while I work remotely.” Nationals MP Darren Chester will also attend. THE new changerooms at Chelsea Recreation Reserve are officially open. The facilities will be used by Chelsea Junior Football Club, Chelsea Football Netball Club and the Chelsea Cricket Club. An upgraded pavilion at Le Page Park Cricket Club at Cheltenham also opened last week. The two projects cost the state government $280,000. TWO events to help encourage women to get involved with sports are being held this week. A free multisports day is being hosted by the Strong Sisters Australia Movement in Carrum Downs this weekend. Women and girls who attend will be able to play cricket, football, soccer, tennis, hockey, archery, and more. The day runs from 12pm to 5pm at Carrum Downs Recreation Reserve on 17 September.
