A SMALL earthquake struck close to the coast of Frankston last week. The earthquake struck at 5.41am on 18 September. The tremor had a magnitude of 2.4. The epicentre of the earthquake was in Port Phillip Bay, a short distance out from Seaford Beach. In a statement online, the Victorian SES confirmed that no damage reports had been made. “[There have been] no calls for assistance to VICSES. There is no Tsunami threat,” the statement read. DUNKLEY MP Peta Murphy will represent Australia at the United Nations General Assembly. The UN General Assembly begins in New York this month, and continues until December. THE new changerooms at Chelsea Recreation Reserve are officially open. The facilities will be used by Chelsea Junior Football Club, Chelsea Football Netball Club and the Chelsea Cricket Club. An upgraded pavilion at Le Page Park Cricket Club at Cheltenham also opened last week. The two projects cost the state government $280,000. TWO events to help encourage women to get involved with sports are being held this week. A free multisports day is being hosted by the Strong Sisters Australia Movement in Carrum Downs this weekend. Pines Forest Aquatic Centre received the honour for best seasonal outdoor pool facility management.
