A YOUNG boy with dreams of working in construction has been helping out at a level crossing removal site. Four-year-old Kai has been taking his Mum to Chelsea Station frequently to see how work on the station is progressing. The young man has visited so often that the team has brought him on board to help with traffic control on the footpath. LOCAL sailors have a new place to call home. The construction of the Carrum Sailing and Motorboat Club’s clubhouse is complete. The clubhouse features a social space, kitchen, boat storage, a ramp, and decking. The state government contributed nearly $150,000 to the project. ATHLETES from Mentone Athletic Club had a good showing at a state level competition this month. Athletics Victoria’s cross country relays were held at Jells Park. Multiple Olympians were among the 1000 people who competed on the day. Mentone Athletic Club’s younger runners stole the show. Seth O’Donnell, aged 20, ran a time of 17:55 in the hilly 6.2km course. He finished just behind Olympians Jack Rayner and Stewart McSweyn. Mentone’s Michael Kernahan was not far behind, posting a time of 18:30. A GROUP of knitters in Frankston have worked together to break a world record. Knit-A-Row-And-Go is a community group based out of Frankston. Alongside other keen knitters from WA and Queensland, the group has knitted a giant tea cosy. The world record for largest tea cosy previously stood at 3.4 metres high with a circumference of 11.1 metres. The Frankston group’s effort stands in at 5.1 metres tall with a 19.3 metre circumference. The measurements are being sent to Guinness World Record for approval.
