FRANKSTON Dolphins FNC and Cranbourne FC will not be playing MPNFL football in 2022. The two clubs had applied to be admitted into the Mornington Peninsula competition. Cranbourne FC have previously tried to join the MPNFL, but have been unsuccessful. Before a meeting of the 22 MPNFL clubs last month, Cranbourne FC withdrew its application. The clubs took a vote on allowing Frankston Dolphins to enter, but the club did not gain enough votes to secure its place. DOGS may be able to roam off-lead at some of Frankston’s beaches soon. There are five sandy sites being considered by council as potential off-lead dog areas. They are Keast Park in Seaford, Armstrongs Road in Seaford, Seaford Beach, Gould Street Beach near Wells St, and part of the beach from Olivers Hill to Frankston Pier. POLICE have allegedly seized $14,000 worth of cocaine as well as cash from a house on Lautrec Street, Frankston. Frankston Crime Investigation Unit executed a Drugs, Poisons, and Controlled Substance Act search warrant at the property. There they seized the drugs and money. Police have since charged a 27-year-old man over the discovery. He has been bailed to appear at Frankston Magistrates Court on 23 March next year. FRANKSTON councillor Steven Hughes (pictured) has returned to work after a one month suspension. Cr Hughes’ suspension ran for one month beginning on 31 August. Cr Hughes was suspended after the conclusion of arbitration between himself and Frankston Council. The arbiter found that Cr Hughes had committed four acts of misconduct after he made social media posts criticising council decisions and spending (“Rebel councillor suspended over Facebook posts” The Times 31/8/21). FRANKSTON Council has posted an improved result in its 2021 community satisfaction survey. 811 residents were interviewed for the annual survey. The results read that satisfaction with council’s overall performance was recorded at 6.71 out of 10, in the “good” category. South-eastern region councils in Cardinia, Casey, Frankston, Greater Dandenong, Kingston, and the Mornington Peninsula averaged a satisfaction score of 6.70. The statewide average was 6.92.
