A driver was found over the limit in Carrum Downs last night after he crashed into the back of a marked police brawler van. Transit Safety Division officers were stopped at a red-light on an Eastlink off ramp, at Thompsons Road, when they were nudged from behind about 8.15pm. The 46-year-old driver who said he was distracted by the bluetooth in the car, was breath tested and returned a positive result. A drink driver was picked up in Mentone last night after crashing into three parked cars. Police were called to Glenelg Drive after residents reported the crash and discovered the damaged cars about 8pm. The driver allegedly involved didn’t remain at the scene but was picked up by police a short distance away in Avenza Street. The 28-year-old driver returned a positive breath test before he was taken back to a police station and furnished an evidentiary breath test reading of 0.198. POLICE are searching for the owner of a lost set of diamond and gold rings. The jewelry was found on the ground at Chelsea Railway Station. It was on the Frankston-bound platform on 24 September. Police say the rings are “obviously very sentimental items and each is engraved with a heartfelt message.” The owner can contact the Chelsea Police property officer on 8773 3200 to claim the rings. AN old medallion and memorial coin have been found near the Parkdale shops on Nepean Highway. The items (pictured below) were found near the Rivers on 23 September. The medallion has the name “L. NOBLE” on it, and the coin is stamped “Britannia 1797”. The items were found alongside other coins and currency. KINGSTON councillors have used their final ordinary meeting to send a message of support to marginalised communities. At their final meeting, councillors voted on a motion to reiterate “support for Indigenous Australians particularly those within our community and reiterate our commitment to working towards reconciliation, support for LGBTIQ+ Australians” and “support for our diverse multicultural community particularly in Kingston”.
