FREE parking has been introduced in multiple areas around Frankston. From 1 July, parking is free for up to two hours in Playne Street, Cranbourne Road, Young Street East, or at the Mechanics Hall and Frankston Arts Centre. A COVID screening clinic has opened at the Monash Peninsula campus. The drive through clinic opens each day from 8.30am – 4pm. Coronavirus testing is also offered and Frankston and Rosebud hospitals. Entry to the testing clinic is accessed through the main entrances to the university campus on Moorooduc Highway. Anyone who visits is asked to stay in their car. Parents who wish for their children under the age of five to get tested are asked to take them to one of the hospital screening centres. POLICE have charged ten people following an investigation into alleged gun and drug trafficking activity. On 23 June, police executed search warrants at a number of properties in the south-eastern suburbs. During those raids police seized a 22 calibre handgun, a shortened double barrel shotgun, pen pistol, ammunition, tasers, and firearm components, as well as drugs including methylamphetamine, cocaine, cannabis, GHB, steroids, and prescription medications. TWO offenders who stole alcohol from a bottle shop are wanted by police. At around 11am, 25 March, two people walked into a Patterson Lakes liquor store. They allegedly stole a 30 pack of Smirnoff Double Black, and ran out of the store without paying. An image of two people police wish to speak to has been released. TWO local park projects will be completed after receiving a funding boost from the state government. A new pocket park will be created in Moorabbin, and the off-leash dog area at Carrum’s Roy Dore Reserve will be expanded with the funding.
