BAKERY workers alerted police after hearing a loud bang and seeing a four-wheel-drive being reversed through the front glass window of a charcoal chicken shop in Centre-Dandenong Road, Dingley, 5am, Thursday 22 February. A laptop and a boom box were stolen from the shop. The raid also extensively damaged the front windows of an adjoining ice cream shop and a body care shop. The three premises had to be security-shuttered afterwards. WORKS are set to begin on the new Acacia Avenue Preschool in Mentone after Kingston Council appointed a Kingston builder to complete the exciting $2.189million community project. DETECTIVES were able to return a portable speaker after it was stolen from one of two youths walking home from Mt Erin College, 9pm, Wednesday 21 February. Detective Senior Constable Shaun Rampal, of Frankston CIU, said the 15-year-olds were walking home after basketball along Franciscan Avenue when a group of youths from a nearby party approached. Two of the youths allegedly “stood over” the boys and demanded to be able to go through their backpacks, stealing the speaker and other items valued at $200.
