A NEWCOMER to the Skye community has got stuck right into helping fellow residents by volunteering for the local Country Fire Authority brigade. Camille Pola recently moved from Warrnambool to the Frankston suburb and was inspired to volunteer to learn new skills and pitch in to the community. POLICE breath-tested about 14,000 drivers in the Frankston and Mornington Peninsula Shire council areas over the Melbourne Cup long weekend with 28 being found to be either drink-or-drug driving. Another 315 traffic offences were detected, but only two serious injury collisions were recorded, which police said was pleasing “considering the amount of traffic that flowed through the area”. SALES of a calendar showcasing illustrations by Frankston area preschool and primary school pupils will raise money for projects helping vulnerable children. The Awesome Kids Family Calendar was officially launched at Frankston Arts Centre last Thursday (9 November) by Anglicare Victoria. Frankston Crime Investigation Unit is investigating a burglary at a tobacco store in a shopping complex in Frankston. It is believed the unknown offender forced entry to the store on Ashleigh Avenue, about 3.50am on Friday 3 November. The burglar stole a quantity of cash before fleeing the scene via a hole in the ceiling which he had entered through.
