UP to 13 cars had their side windows smashed and valuables stolen in an overnight Langwarrin crime spree that caused thousands of dollars damage. Residents’ cars were hit in Lexton Drive, Melaleua Crescent and Fawn Court at various times between 9pm-6am on Thursday morning, and Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, 5-8 October. THE head of the Chisholm TAFE Institute has been recognised by the state government for decades of work in the education sector. Chisholm CEO Maria Peters received the Lynne Kosky Memorial Award for Lifetime Achievement at the Victorian Training Awards last Wednesday (11 October). Ms Peters, Chisholm’s CEO since 2010, announced in July she intends to retire at the end of the year. Chisholm TAFE has nine campuses throughout Victoria including Frankston and Rosebud education centres. SHORT plays about some of Australia’s aviation heroes are set to take off at Moorabbin’s National Australian Aviation Museum. Not-for-profit community group LOTS Inc Theatre will stage two matinee performances of the Legends of the Skies play focusing on the story of aviation pioneers including Sir Lawrence Wacket, the “father of the Australian aircraft industry”, and Robin Miller, an aviator and nurse known as “The Sugar Bird Lady”. A CAR plunged into Patterson River at Bonbeach at about 4.30am on Tuesday morning (10 October) and a man, believed to be the driver, was arrested at 6am outside a house on Nepean Highway. The 31-year-old was taken to hospital for observation and later said to be assisting police in the “ongoing” investigation. Police scuba divers did not find anyone else in the submerged vehicle.
