A PAINTING that has intrigued thousands of people across the nation for more than 30 years is coming to Frankston. The timeless artwork, Three Well Known Australians, by artist Martin Shaw, has been keeping the public guessing since its journey started in 1983. So far it has been exhibited at 186 venues, and Mr Shaw said there are plans to keep the tour going for many years to come. A 54-YEAR-OLD Frankston man will face court on charges of dangerous driving causing death and other traffic related offences relating to a fatal collision in Langwarrin earlier this year. A 17-year-old Langwarrin girl was crossing the intersection of Cranbourne-Frankston Rd and Long St when she was struck by a garbage truck, 8.10am, Tuesday 16 February. She was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries but died in hospital. Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives charged the man who appeared at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court, Tuesday 20 September. The case has been adjourned for a committal mention at a date to be fixed.
DETECTIVES are investigating the death of a Frankston man after a confrontation with security staff outside a Bunnings’ Warehouse, 11.15am, Monday. The 31-year-old, of Screen St, reportedly collapsed during the altercation and complained of feeling unwell. He was taken to Frankston Hospital where he died, surrounded by his family, on Monday night. Bunnings managing director Michael Schneider said his company had launched an “internal investigation” into the incident in the car park of the Gertrude St store. THREE men attacked the driver and passenger of a white Ford utility leaving Thrift Park shopping centre, Friday night, 9 September. The driver, 39, of Patterson Lakes, told police they were about to leave via the Nepean Hwy exit, 10pm, when a man stepped from the curb and directed them to a side car park. When they stopped the man reached in and grabbed the car keys – and then punched the driver twice to the face when he attempted to retrieve them. The man then demanded his wallet and money.
