A BURNOUT has cost a Patterson Lakes man his Holden ute for a month after he was busted in Langwarrin last week. Somerville Highway Patrol members saw the thick blanket of tyre smoke on Centre Rd, 5pm, Saturday 16 July. The ute was clocked at 114kp/h in a 60kp/h zone. The 21-year-old was found to have a suspended probationary license, unregistered vehicle and bald rear tyres. His car was impounded at a cost of $1100. The man has been released pending summons. TWO 17-year-olds walking along Ballarto Rd, Carrum Downs, 9pm, Monday 11 July, ran for it when they were menaced by a man who demanded their mobile phones. The teenagers were passing the McCormicks Rd shops when the man – in a black Subaru with four others inside – jumped out and demanded the phone. DETECTIVES searched a Frankston house, Thursday 14 July, and found a fully functioning clandestine drug laboratory – as well as a .22 rifle. Detective Sergeant Paul Busuttil, of the Frankston Crime Investigation Unit, said police found sufficient quantities of methyl amphetamines to make “substantial amounts” of the drug ice. Two men were arrested. A 60-year-old, of Frankston, faced Melbourne Magistrates’ Court last week charged with possessing precursor chemicals, possessing materials to manufacture drugs, possessing and trafficking drugs and possessing an unregistered firearm.
