FRANKSTON Council has taken the axe to their sculpture program in a cost saving measure. Council has cut nine public art projects that were set to be leased or created in the next year. MORE than 20 planning matters are set to be investigated as part of a probity review ordered by Kingston councillors in the wake of the planning scandal which toppled Casey Council. Last year the state’s peak anti-corruption body IBAC began hearings in response to allegations that developer John Woodman had financial ties to City of Casey councillors. THE 2020 MPNFL season hangs in the balance, with its future set to be evaluated later this month. FRANKSTON Council has passed their annual budget for the 2020/2021 financial year. Rates will rise by an average of 2 per cent in the next year. Frankston Council projects a $9.92 million surplus in the budget, down from the previous year’s projection of $22.09 million. The budget contains nearly $60 million worth of capital works projects. They include works at RF Miles Reserve, Jubilee Park, Centenary Park, Belvedere Bowls Club, and the Frankston Yacht Club building. THE Dunkley electorate is among the hardest hit by the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, with 7.9 per cent of jobs in the area lost according to a new study. A study conducted by the Grattan Institute found that only two Victorian electorates were suffering worse than Dunkley when it came to job losses during the COVID-19 crisis. The Dunkley electorate encompasses Frankston, Mt Eliza, Langwarrin, Skye, and Seaford.
