A ROPE harness was used to rescue much-loved pet horse Jamaica after she lost her footing and slid down an embankment at about 7.30am on Thursday 20 July. Owner Brenda Robinson, of Frankston-Flinders Rd, Frankston South, said the 39-year-old mare could not regain her footing in the wet and muddy conditions, and lay stranded in the cold for half an hour. Frankston SES crews slung ropes around the horse’s middle and lifted her into a standing position while a vet checked her condition. FRANKSTON police said Wednesday they would be upping their profile in works-besieged Young St and in surrounding streets and lanes. A TOUCHING gesture to show returned service men and women that their efforts and sacrifices were not made in vain has made a Chelsea man proud and grateful. Tom Jones, 95, was recently presented with a Quilt of Valour at Longbeach RSL by club president Michael Weissefeld and Wyn Roper, who is president of Quilters of Valour Australia. The patchwork quilt was made by Bev Young, of Mornington Peninsula Patchworkers, who has made many quilts for the organisation which started in 2010 to honour “those affected by their service to Australia”.
