UP to 25 stolen “high-end” cycles were recovered when police raided a factory in Southern Rd, Mentone, Thursday 11 August.

Senior Constable Chris Victory, of the Caulfield Divisional Response Crew, said some of the bikes – including Schwinn, Giant and Cervelo makes – were valued at $12,000 each. They were allegedly stolen from properties from Mentone to Seaford over several months.

A 36-year-old man and an 18-year-old girl, of Mentone, have been charged and bailed to appear at Moorabbin Justice Centre on 17 October charged with trafficking and possessing drugs of dependence, handling stolen goods and dealing property suspected to be the proceeds of crime.

Inquiries are being made and more arrests are likely, said Senior Constable Victory, who is still in the process of establishing values for the bicycles and finding their owners.

“Anyone who has lost a bike can approach me at Caulfield DRU and I can facilitate viewing the property,” he said.

Anyone with information on the thefts can call Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.

If you want to know if your stolen bike has been recovered in this haul, please go to www.stolenbikes.com.au and search the dedicated Police Recovered Bikes gallery, where there are currently 200 Police recovered bikes looking for owners.

Stolen Bicycles Australia Ltd is a not for profit organisation founded by former Police and passionate cyclists to assist bike theft victims and Police to locate, recover and repatriate stolen bikes.  If you have had your bike stolen the founder Brad a former Detective from the Victoria Police recommends you add your bike to the database, so it can be easily found.  Once posted you will receive some tips and tools to hopefully help recover your bike.
