Police responded to reports of alleged hoon driving in Seaford last night.

It was reported up to 10 vehicles were engaging in alleged illegal hoon driving in the vicinity of Brunel Road and Pascal Road about 10.30pm.

Officers observed a white Holden Commodore utility, driven by a 25-year-old Noble Park man, lost traction on Brunel Road.

The vehicle hit a curb and as a result, the rear tyres blew out.

The driver was spoken to by police and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1390

He is expected to be charged on summons with improper use of motor vehicle and intentionally cause loss of traction.

Quotes attributable to Officer in charge, Hastings Police, Senior Sergeant Elizabeth Burke.

“Operation Achilles remains active state-wide operation and police will continue to hold high risk driving offenders to account.

“Police are actively targeting people engaging in hoon type driving, particularly occurring in industrial areas across metropolitan Melbourne.

“With the easing of Victoria’s coronavirus restrictions, we can assure the community that we will have a strong visible presence to deter this activity.

“We will continue to identify and arrest people who choose to engage in illegal hoon activity – both police and the community are rightly sick of this behaviour and there is zero tolerance for it.”

Anyone with information about hoon driving is urged to report this to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
