A MAN from the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne has been charged over an alleged diamond scam worth $1.4 million. Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit detectives have been looking into the scam. They say a man stole upwards of $1.4 million from three victims between September 2017 and October 2021. Police say the alleged offender told his victims that he owned a diamond mine in Sierra Leone. The victims paid the man to invest in the mine. The offender also allegedly asked for equipment and gifts “for his employees before on-selling items received in an offshore shop,” police say. NEW picnic tables are being installed for the summer. Around 100 tables will be put up in a bid to help provide more outdoor seating space for residents. RULES for dogs during the summer period are now in effect. Year-round, dogs are permitted off-leash on the Mentone foreshore between Charman Road and Plummer Road. During summer dogs can be exercised off lead in Carrum from the southern end of Old Post Office Lane car park to Osprey Lane from 7.30pm to 10am. A PUBLIC park on Evelyn Street is one step closer to fruition. A contract worth just over $1.2 million has been awarded for necessary construction works. LJM Construction Australia will undertake the project. The projected total cost of the project is just over $1.57 million. MOST COVID-19 restrictions have finally been lifted statewide. For vaccinated people, life has returned to close to what it once was. Capacity limits at venues and events have been lifted, dance floors are back open, and mask rules have been further eased.
