PLANS for a $3.4 million redevelopment of Ballam Park are out for community consultation. The proposed changes in the precinct include public art sculptures, new pathways, a junior playground, water play facilities, a terrace, gardens, and picnic lawns with shelters. New car parking is also included in the plan. A woman is expected to be charged with drink driving after driving her car up and over a pedestrian overpass at the Kananook Railway Station on Sunday morning. The driver, a 21-year-old Malvern East woman, drove her car up the ramp, remained stationary at the top of the overpass for a short time before driving down three flights of stairs to return to ground level. At ground level her car, a Mitsubishi ASX station wagon, became wedged between the steel handrails requiring SES assistance to cut the vehicle out. THE Mordialloc Masonic Hall will be known as Platform 81 when it reopens as a youth facility. The hall was bought by Kingston Council for $1.15 million in 2011, but has since been vacant. Last year $2 million works to transform the hall into a permanent home for Kingston Youth Services were scheduled. The ongoing redevelopment works at the heritage building include adding a lift and ramps for disability access, a new kitchen, a new office space, and support service spaces (“Youth the future for hall”, The News, 4/9/19). POLICE are searching for a person who made a series of fraudulent transactions on Christmas day. The victim’s bank cards were used at around 7am to make multiple transactions at a Frankston 7/11. Three purchases, worth $14.50, $54.99, and $51.99 were made. The victim was informed by their bank the next day of the transactions. The victim had used their card on Christmas eve at a Mordialloc Woolworths, and is believed to have lost his wallet on the way back to his Mordialloc home. A MAN was issued with a defect notice last week after he was spotted driving with a makeshift door sticky taped to his car. Somerville Highway Patrol officers pulled over the 63-year-old man in Mornington around 10.30am, 13 April. The door to the white Daewoo Lanos was missing, replaced by a makeshift door held together by tape. The driver told police he was going to Western Australia to visit his sister, who had contracted coronavirus. He was issued with a defect notice.
