Officers from Somerville Highway Patrol were left shaking their heads following four separate incidents involving speeding drivers on Peninsula Link over-night. The first incident occurred when a 19-year-old woman was caught travelling at an alleged 138km/hr on Peninsula Link about 9pm. Officers from Mornington Divisional Response Unit have charged a man with firearms offences after executing a warrant in Frankston yesterday. Police attended a residence on Skye Road about 8am on 24 November and arrested a man and a woman. It is alleged that police located a drill press, lathe machine and various firearms parts including springs, stocks and barrels after executing a warrant. A 45-year-old Frankston man has been charged with numerous offences including possess firearm parts for purpose of manufacture and breach firearm prohibition order. A MAN from the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne has been charged over an alleged diamond scam worth $1.4 million. Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit detectives have been looking into the scam. They say a man stole upwards of $1.4 million from three victims between September 2017 and October 2021. Police say the alleged offender told his victims that he owned a diamond mine in Sierra Leone. The victims paid the man to invest in the mine. The offender also allegedly asked for equipment and gifts “for his employees before on-selling items received in an offshore shop,” police say. NEW picnic tables are being installed for the summer. Around 100 tables will be put up in a bid to help provide more outdoor seating space for residents. RULES for dogs during the summer period are now in effect. Year-round, dogs are permitted off-leash on the Mentone foreshore between Charman Road and Plummer Road. During summer dogs can be exercised off lead in Carrum from the southern end of Old Post Office Lane car park to Osprey Lane from 7.30pm to 10am. At other times there are no dogs allowed in that area. No dogs are allowed at any time between Bay Street and Mordialloc Creek.
