A PUBLIC park on Evelyn Street is one step closer to fruition. A contract worth just over $1.2 million has been awarded for necessary construction works. LJM Construction Australia will undertake the project. The projected total cost of the project is just over $1.57 million. The works will cost $130,000 more to ratepayers than council initially budgeted for. The shortfall will be incorporated into the mid-year budget review. MOST COVID-19 restrictions have finally been lifted statewide. For vaccinated people, life has returned to close to what it once was. Capacity limits at venues and events have been lifted, dance floors are back open, and mask rules have been further eased. Masks must now only be worn by primary school staff, visitors, and students in years three to six, servers at hospitality venues, retail workers and customers, visitors and workers in hospitals or care facilities, in high risk work settings, and on public transport. Detectives from the Southern Metro Division 4 Response Unit have today arrested two people after a search warrant was executed at an address in Seaford. The search warrant was conducted at the East Road address around 9am after a long investigation into drug trafficking and explosives. Police seized a large commercial quantity of methylamphetamine, a large sum of cash, two firearms as well as other weapons, Cannabis and a small quantity of explosives. FIFTEEN teenagers have been arrested over the alleged destruction of an unoccupied home in Aspendale Gardens. The Wells Street home was allegedly broken into numerous times throughout September. Police say that there was extensive damage inside the home including smashed windows and walls, graffitied walls and fixtures, torn out electrical and light fittings, and fire damage. In the last two months, police have arrested fifteen teenagers in relation to the damage. A CHELSEA Heights man was among those injured when a car slammed into the back of an emergency response truck on Eastlink last week. An emergency response car was attending to a car with a flat tyre in Boronia, around 3.30pm on 10 November.
